1. Beverly Wilshire Medical
Going beverly wilshire medical (the one xiaxue went) for consultation tomorrow regarding my DES (double eyelid surgery) and honesty right now i'm kinda unsure about whether i want to have my eyelids done there or not. I have been doing tons and tons of research the past few days with regard to plastic surgery clinics focusing mainly on double eyelids in Singapore /Malaysia /Taiwan /Korea and it's so difficult to decide on where is better for me!! @_@ Mainly because I am quite particular about the price/ reliability/ experience/ service/ reviews & blogger/advertorials will have to correspond with forum comments from 'the general public' (common people that paid for their surgery themselves), everything has to has supporting documents/information in order for me to be absolutely certain that i will not regret my decision!! (I know it's only a minor double eyelid surgery but i feel that if i cut corners on this, i will regret it for sure if anything goes wrong tho...)
2. Understanding from Research
Firstly, DES in Singapore ranges from $3k-$5k depending on the type of DES you want to do, which is pretty expensive to me to some extent compared to other countries. Taiwan and Malaysia costs around $1k-2k for incision and cheaper for non incision methods.
Secondly, I feel that Korea's way for DES is much more advance and natural and almost 90% of the people in Korea has had their eyes done. However, there are also a great deal of botched jobs done in even some famous clinics in Korea and they charge a really high price for non-locals :( (I'd recommend reading up on comments and the personal experiences of others here: http://forum.purseblog.com/asian-plastic-surgery-and-cosmetic-procedures/ before deciding the clinic in Korea because some of it really shocked me!!!)
I am not going to list the names of all the clinics because there are just too many but banobagi, currently one of the popular ones among the social media, has lots of mixed reviews, or maybe some patients are just damn unlucky or their doctor didn't like their face lol. Initially I was quite impressed by xiaxue's eyelid surgery at bwm but there are just too little reviews online and next to zero reviews on DES! There are also some comments going around saying bwm has many death cases for their liposuction surgeries and that complains and deaths are all hidden from the media as they are backed by malaysian government. Hmmmm...tskidk...
3. Time and Costs
Singapore and Malaysia is considerably cheaper in terms of not having to spend extra for plane tickets overseas. I don't know if I can take leave for so long too and i'm actually planning to use my annual leaves for other occasions :( If it's at bwm, i only have to take 2-3 days leave max and i'd be able to go back for a checkup anytime. But i'm scared my eyes wouldn't turn out like what i want.. Ohgod i can't decide.
Anyways, i'll meet up with dr. cheah soon and see how it is! He looks like a fatherly/grandpa figure in his pictures. Lol. Wish me luck!!!! If i decide to have my des done there, right now i'd say it's a 70% chance... i'll update about it if i can (or if im not so lazy haha)
All in all, i guess every surgery has it's risks. It all lies with the trust between your doctor and youself. I'll guess i'll just believe in my doctor 100% that things will work out well!! It's all or never!
